I’ve been watching the unfolding beef between The Donald, his son and our Mayor, London’s Sadiq Khan.
Sadiq Khan (a human rights lawyer) represented Louis Farrakhan in the early 2000s in his efforts to overturn a ban on coming to Britain.
Farrakhan, a Muslim religious leader and activist, has been criticised for remarks that have been perceived as antisemitic, anti-white, and homophobic. In October 1995, he organised and led the Million Man March in Washington, D.C., calling on black men to renew their commitments to their families and communities.
At the time
In an interview with Jack Mendel at Jewish News Sadiq Khan had said: ‘I have never hidden the fact that I was a human rights lawyer. Unfortunately, that means that I had to speak on behalf of some unsavoury individuals. Some of their views made me feel deeply uncomfortable, but it was my job.’
The Donald, as usual – with no Polish, took to twitter (of course) and branded Mr Khan “pathetic” as he criticised him for saying there was “no reason to be alarmed” by the additional police presence on the capital’s streets following the London Bridge terror attack.
Sadiq Khan has been deeply offended by these remarks and has suggested that Trump’s impending visit (to the UK) be cancelled.
In the meantime, Donald Trump Jr waded in, in an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America saying, “Rather than the Mayor of London attacking maybe he should do something about it.”
So there you have it. I suspect history has a part to play in this spat.
And now Trump is challenging Sadiq to an IQ test! (You don’t really want to go there, Donald!)
Let’s see how this develops…….
