(#Retourne – A Collaborative Poem)

May your heart sing like the ocean
May the air be clear around you
May your midnight flame burn bright
May your feet find firm ground to stand

May the air be clear around you
May the oceans part in your path
Always keeping love in your heart
Keeping your spirit pure and sure

May your midnight flame burn bright
May your ideas set one alight
Always keeping truth on your side
Staying strong no matter the fight

May your feet find firm ground to stand
May you never fear the shadows
This my prayer for you dear child
On your feet may you always land

This is a collaborative poem written for Jilly’s October challenge, Casting Bricks to attract Jade. The first part in bold is Sarah Conner’s and the second part is by me; following the Retourne form.

A Retourne is  a poem that has 4 quatrains with 8 syllables on each line. The lines do not need to rhyme.  In a Retourne,  next three lines of the first stanza become the first line of the succeeding quatrains.
