Today was a day cloaked in a mist of hope; interspersed with flashes of panic. A family member had to have surgery with only a days’ notice to prepare. I’m glad to say it all went well.  As I sat in the waiting room swallowing down my fear I looked at the walls and pondered all the words they’d heard- over the years. If these walls could speak, what would they say?

I sit and pray

In this hospital waiting room

If the walls could speak

What would they say?

Would they recite entreaties?

Would they sing praises?

Would they wail with grief?

Would they sigh with relief ?

These walls have heard

More prayers proffered

All sincere and raw

All of which

God has heard
